Penwortham Methodist Church

Music and singing

For Methodists, music and singing is an important part of learning about, sharing and celebrating our faith.

HYMNS  At Penwortham we use a combination of hymn books and the screen. For hymns from 'Hymns and Psalms' we use the conventional hymn book. However, hymns from the more recent 'Songs of Fellowship' and 'Singing the Faith' are projected on the screen. Books, including those in large print, are always available for those who prefer to follow any of the hymn books.

THE CHOIR  We are blessed with a quality choir who lead our singing at Sunday worship each week. They also have a growing repertoire of special pieces which they perform at special services during the year.

THE MUSIC GROUP  The music group play periodically at our services and accompany our singing so well.  They also hold special performances during the year like the Summer Concert, which, together with the Choir, not only gave them the opportunity to play some different music, but also to delight and entertain us in song and sketches.

We look forward to Easter Sunday at 4pm when the Preston Ribble Circuit Choir is joining  with the Midge Hall Choir to present 'Hallelujah What a Saviour' by John Peterson.
